Yes, we have spillover. Pretty Boy Reservoir has been spilling over the face of the dam since Tuesday. The river is back to a normal Summer flow of 2.2 on the stick, which works out to just a little under 173 CFS. Fish love this kind of water. It’s gin clear, warming and dropping, so this weekend should be a great one for you to to get out and try your luck.Jeff Lewatowski and Jason du Pont, on a busmans’ holiday yesterday, released over 2 dozen fish from Falls Rd up to the Dam. Stop by the shop and give the pictures a look Most of the fish released were over 10″ with quite a few 12-16″ fish in the mix-including a beautiful 14″rainbow. Most of the fish fell for small nymphs but large streamers accounted for the largest two fish. This weekend try small bead head nymphs #16-20 early and with warm weather ahead bring up your box of Olives and Stoneflies. Fish have been holding in shallow riffles and backeddies and have been eating with abandon.
Note: You can’t catch fish if you don’t go fishing. It’s 65 F in January– find a way to get on the river this weekend.
