Cape Cod Fly Fishing Report from a Kennedy…

Thanks to Brian Kennedy for the fly fishing report and photo from the Cape.

Nice Stripe-ah

Theaux, Rocky and Jason:
Richard Manning, (another friend of the store) and I took our annual trip up to Cape Cod in June this year to fish for stripers (as they call rockfish up there) and blues. I caught this beautiful 36” striper on a 9 weight using an orange squid fly. We were fishing in a rip south of Harwich, Mass. which has the advantage of receiving both ocean and sound tides. That day in June there were lots of bait and also lots of hungry fish moving through the rip, both stripers and blues. The one in the picture was feeling particularly strong as he had me well down into the backing before I finally turned and landed him. Freshwater fishing on the Cape is not as well known as the saltwater fishery, but in addition to the saltwater action, I landed some nice sized smallmouth and largemouth bass in a small kettle pond up there as well. I look forward to seeing you in the store
soon.

Best,

Brian Kennedy
