Gunpowder River Fishing Report

The Gunpowder is at 31 cfs and 46 degrees and climbing. The fishing has been good despite the low water. Fishing higher up in the river seems to be producing more fish than the lower river. We expect the fishing to pick up these next few days with warmer weather and increasing flows.

Fishing patterns such as a grey waltz worm and a pheasant tail as a double nymph rig has been working best. Slowly stripping a black or olive wooly bugger along the bottom with a sinking line has been producing great results as well. If you are looking to fish dry flies, small midges and mayflies have been working well in the slow deep riffles.
