Gunpowder River Stream Report

The Gunpowder River is clear and flowing at 115 Cfs and is 51.3 degrees F. Right now streamers in the #8-4 range on a 5 to 8 ft sinking poly-leader are a good bet especially around log-jams, corners, and back-eddies. Larger dries can be fished hopper dropper style-especially in the boulder pools. Nymphing, unless one is using mono, can be tough above 75 Cfs so seek out shelves and seams and keep adding weight until you connect!

Please note: Higher flows are presenting problems to floaters in the catch and release area between Falls Rd and Bluemount Rd. If floating make sure you take the time to scout the numerous log jams between access points as the river corridor is full of downed timber and floating will require a plan for portaging.
