Maryland Fly Fishing School

Please join us for a fly fishing school. On Sunday, March 16, a Backwater Angler Guide will be teaching a fly fishing school that is ideal for beginners. If you’re planning on flyfishing Maryland, or anywhere else for that matter, this course is a great introduction to the sport. The school covers knots, casting, gear and fly selection. Class is held from 11:00 Am till 2:00 PM. Cost is $100 per person and includes the use of gear. Class size is limited to 4 and pre-registration is required. Maryland Fly Fishing after 2″ of Rain Locally

After over two inches of rain yesterday, the upper river is in great shape. The Gunpowder river is low, clear and is flowing at 26 CFs. Water temp is 42 F throughout the 7.6 mile catch and release section. If you’re fishing stonefly patterns stay in the shadows, covering the log jams and wood along the banks. Keep in mind that stoneflies need lots of gravel and leaf litter so try Masemore downstream through Big Falls Rd.
