Winston 5wt LT-5 Rod Review

The following is a review of the Winston 5 weight LT-5 Rod by Terry Newendorp. Thanks Terry! The best rod I have ever had for all-round trout fishing, and to be able to take on a trip, is the Winston 5wt LT-5. I can handle Western rivers and even the Labrador wind, but the tip softness is so excellent that I can handle small trout (on the Gunpowder or wherever) with grace. I now have 3 of them, and it is still unsurpassed in distance, accuracy and finesse. Terry Newendorp Rockville, MD

Bald Eagle Fly Fishing along the Gunpowder River

Low water, a bald eagle, a few Olives and some sipping fish greeted me at Masemore this morning.Mine was the only car in the lot and the dogs had a nice run-leashed of course– along the exposed gravel downstream of bush cabin run. Scott X2S Fly Rod Review

I’ve cast the Scott X2s rod in line weights 7-10, and they all load and shoot with less line then the S3S series. I currently use a Scott S3S 8 weight rod for bonefish, stripers, and salmon, but the X2S would be a perfect fit for me personally in a 7 weight for the smaller bone fish and schoolie stripers, I encounter over the course of a year. The 8 weight could be considered perfect with a fast action, and soft tip for loading the rod with much less force, than my faster S3S. The 9 or 10 weight X2s won’t wear out rotator cuffs, …
