Beginners Fly Fishing School

Please join us for a fly fishing school. On Saturday the 28th of March a Backwater Angler Guide will be teaching a fly fishing school that is ideal for beginners. If you’re planning on fly fishing in Maryland, or anywhere else for that matter, this course is a great introduction to the sport. The school covers knots, casting, gear and fly selection. The River’s Up & We’re Open

The river’s up to 229 cfs at Falls road after overnight rain. This, along with the dark dreary weather, presents an ideal situation for those wanting to fish streamers. Thanks to Jim for the photo of the colored up fish caught recently doing just that. We’re open normal weekday hours both today & tomorrow for Christmas hours.    

Nymphing Clinics on the Gunpowder River

Keep on fly fishing this winter! Join us on either Saturday the 16th or Saturday the 23rd of November to learn the different techniques of nymphing. This clinic will go over euro nymphing (tight lining) vs indicator fishing, whilst going over rigging, casting, fly selection, gear choice and how to approach different water types. Each clinic is in a group setting of no more than 3 anglers per guide, will be 3 hours long and use of fly rods and reels is included. Cost is $140 per person. Clinics are scheduled 11-2.
