Beginner’s Fly Fishing School

Spring is the perfect time to learn how to fly fish. Please join us on Saturday, May 31st from 9 AM to 12 PM. Our Fly Fishing Schools are 3 hours long and included the use of gear. In the first half of the course we cover basic knots, casting skills, fly types and techniques for the river. Following instruction bank-side, during the second half we’ll practice the techniques on the water. Gunpowder River Stream Report

The trails are, well, icy! The Gunpowder River is flowing at 33.1 Cfs and is 39.7 degrees F. The wind has knocked down but the condition of the parking lots is still questionable. If one is feeling hemmed in, Monday may well be the best day to get out in a very narrow window of weather. While a bit early for little black stoneflies, black flies should be around in the next few weeks. Until then, nymph on and be careful out there!
