R. L. Winston Rod, Lamson Reels and SA Flylines Demo Day

Want to cast Winston Fly Rods in Maryland? Mike Colegrove, our favorite R. L. Winston rep was kind enough to send us (in the dead of winter) this nice warm shot of a gathering of Winton BIII-x and BIII-SX fly rods he brought along during a trip to Abaco, Bahamas this winter. Beginner’s Fly Fishing School

Please join us for a fly fishing school. On Sunday, April 12th, a Backwater Angler Guide will be teaching a fly fishing school that is ideal for beginners. If you’re planning on flyfishing Maryland, or anywhere else for that matter, this course is a great introduction to the sport. The school covers knots, casting, gear and fly selection. Class is held from 11:00 AM till 2:00 PM. Cost is $125 per person and includes the use of gear. A Maryland non-tidal fishing license and trout stamp is required and may be purchased at the shop with check or cash the day of the school. Class …

Gunpowder River Easter Stream Report

The Gunpowder River is flowing at 100 Cfs, is 45 Degrees and clear. Fly fishing in the flats between Falls Rd and York Rd has been productive with cream midges in sizes #18-22. Streamers are working fine in the stocked section but one can connect with more wild fish in the catch and release section by swinging wets. Expert Catskill style tier Mike Bachkosky reported last week that the Delaware River at Hankins was still locked up in ice for opening day.
