Lefty Kreh Fly Casting Lesson

Just after dedication ceremony for the Lefty Kreh Trail, Lefty showed Lauren some casting basics at the Masemore RD access along the Gunpowder River. Lauren had heard about Lefty for years from her dad Jay, a Gunpowder regular from NY. Lauren was lucky to corner Lefty for a quick casting lesson after the dedication and proved to be an apt pupil. She will be headed out west this year. Good luck Lauren, with Lefty’s help you may well outfish your dad!

Baltimore Father’s Day Weekend Fly Fishing Report

The Gunpowder River is flowing at 102 CFs, is clear and 52 F. Sulphurs are now closer to the #16 range. Now is a good time to try a beetle midday with a sulphur emerger tied just behind it. Small dark streamers have been working throughout the morning-especially in the boulder pools. Tricos are just starting in the flats below Masemore and we still have some great dry fly fishing ahead of us this season. A new shipment just arrived from Mary K Jenkins and we have both Brook and Brown Trout long and short sleeved fish t-shirts available in time for Father’s day.
