A few dreary days have proven to be good for the fish and the fisherman. The river is low and clear and the dry fly fishing has been exceptional in the upper catch and release section. A ten to twelve foot leader ending in 6-7x. If streamers are more to your liking, try the stretch between Bunkerhill and Big falls road with a lite bright zonker or a big olive Wooly Bugger and watch out for the log jams.

The river was absolutely beautiful today.Flow was 113 Cfs, low, clear and about 54 F. I fished three access points and saw a total of two -yes that’s 2 cars at Falls Rd, Masemore, and Big Falls combined. Fish were rising to Cream Midges at Falls Rd. Olives at Masemore and Caddis along Big Falls. A 12-13″ Wild Brown took a dry towards the end of the day with abandon and jumped four times before it was released. I can’t think of a reason not to be fishing this time of year–can you?

The river is clear and a little low at 109Cfs. Finding a reason not to go fishing is getting harder after reading reports like this… “”Went out Tuesday 10/05 after talking to Rocky in the shop. After nearly 3.5 ” of rain on Tuesday the river is clearing and lots of fish are being fooled with with San Juan worms and Green weenies. Flying ants, small Tan Caddis and BWo Emergers are working in the riffles.
