The Gunpowder River is clear and flowing at 150 Cfs at 37.4 degrees F. Trails are icy! Now is the time to stud up your wading boots and bring along a wading staff. Fish have been holding along the edges in the shallows, but with flows up and with the river bank-full using the trails and concentrating on drops and jams with a sink -tip and an articulated streamer might be a better bet. Nymphing has been tough in these heavier flows so getting down with a tungsten jig with a zebra midge will still produce on shelves. Fish later in the day if you can as temps are still in the teens this morning. Kevin will be manning the shop today from 10 till 3. Stop in and watch him tie up some effective streamers and share a story or two with him. Consider picking up some Stanley’s ice off paste to keep those guides clear and stay warm!
