Please join us for a flyfishing school. On Sunday, September 27, a Backwater Angler Guide will be teaching a fly fishing school that is ideal for beginners. If you’re planning on flyfishing Maryland, or anywhere else for that matter, this course is a great introduction to the sport. The school covers knots, casting, gear, fly selection and an hour of on-stream instruction. Schools are held in a meadow overlooking the Gunpowder river by a Maryland state licensed and insured fishing guide. Class is held from 11:00 AM till 2:00 PM. Colorado Fly Fishing Report

My wife, Renee and I traveled around the state in about 7 days stopping in Denver, Aspen, Vail, Rocky Mountain National Forest, Colorado Springs and several smaller towns in between. This was our first visit to the state in search of future Bed and Breakfast location with the buisness plan to offer guide services and cater to fly fisherman. Blue Winged Olives, Caddis and Threatening Rain

The Gunpowder river is flowing at 32 Cfs, is clear and 56 F. The recent rains have made things interesting today in the Hereford zone. Warmer water spilling over the dam coupled with a release planned for this weekend to mitigate the surface water should bring the Gunpowder river up to the mid to low 100 Cfs range through the weekend-think streamers! If you’d rather fish dries, Blue Winged Olives and Caddis have been working this week. Riffles emptying into flats have been the best areas to prospect. Fly Fishing Wyoming’s Snake, Hoback and Gros Venture Rivers

Thanks to Josh for the stream report and pictures from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I just got back from Jackson. Incredible. We threw size #2-5 hoppers with a soft hackle as the dropper. We caught so many fish that a had to replace three leaders in one day. Did I mention that we used 3X tippet? In all I probaly caught 60 some fish. We generally fished three rivers, the Snake, the Hoback, and the Gros Venture. However many other people fished Flat Creek which had so much fishing pressure that we decided to avoid it.
