Cool brisk flows along the Gunpowder River

The river is clear, 62 F at Falls Rd, and is flowing at 135 Cfs . We should see flows stabilize through tonight to provide excellent wade fishing just in time for the weekend. With two changes in flow this week on Wednesday and Thursday, enough water has moved off the lip of the reservoir, to take spillover out of the equation for Gunpowder river flow and temperature. We should return to a more predictable late afternoon to early evening sulphur hatch shortly. In the interim, we have plenty of cool water, moving briskly through the Gunpowder river. Gunpowder River Water Temperatures, Sulphurs on the Rise

Memorial day weekend is over. Water flow on the Gunpowder river is 84 CFs and clear . Morning water temperatures at Falls Rd are still in the 63-64 F range, and afternoon Gunpowder river water temps have been on the rise. Yesterday afternoon a water temperature of 72 F was reported just above the high trail pool. Further downstream, at Big Falls Rd, a reading of 70F was recorded this morning, a little more than 6 miles below the dam.
