Fly Fishing School this Sunday…

Don’t postpone joy! We have three spaces left in the Fly Fishing School scheduled for Sunday from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. Cost is $75 per person and the class covers casting, knots, fly and gear selection.Use of all necessary gear is provided or feel free to bring your own. Stream Restoration Project in the Works……

The weathermen are doing a hat dance today.Over the weekend, many folks shared their concerns about the damage that occured after Wednesdays’ storm. Masemore access was hit the hardest The dam between the Mill House and the Mill Pond Cottage that held Bush Cabin Run back blew out. We also lost the wooden footbridge just down from the parking lot. The bridge decking is still largely intact and might be salvageable. Sounds like a great opportunity for a stream restoration project eh? In the short term, utilizing silt fences and getting the O.K. for an aggresive planting program to reestablish a riparian buffer along Bush …

Volunteers Needed…

MDTU is asking for volunteers for City Catch, an exciting program for Baltimore City children. Trout Unlimited, with the Department of Recreation and Parks is planning City Catch for April 17, 2004.Experienced fisherman volunteers along with those from Trout Unlimited, will teach 250 children how to fish for trout. in Leakin Park. The stream will be stocked with trout and each child will get a complete fishing outfit to keep. Volunteers will teach the children how to tie fishing knots, bait a hook, cast, and catch a fish. Besides just having a fun day, children will learn an appreciation for clean water and a wholesome …

Capt. Jeff Becker in the shop this Saturday

Jeff Becker is a Long Island guide that chases, “snarling blobs of Albies” during the Fall. The shop has another week booked with Capt. Jeff this Fall. He’ll be in the shop from 10 till 4 Pm tomorrow tying some pretty epoxy flies for those tough fish. Jeff has recently appeared on a reel guys segment on ESPN2 and has had his flies featured in The Art of Angling Journal and Sal*****er Fly Fishing. Note: Capt.
