Scott G2 843/4 Fly Rod Review

More anglers have switched over to this 4 piece 3wt this season than all of our other 3 wt rods combined. Frankly we’re running out of 3 wt lines because of the popularity of this rod. Great touch, packable and very light in the hand-next time we’re faced with low water-I’ll grab this rod first. –Theaux Le Gardeur Buy a Scott G2 Fly Rod at www.backwaterangler.com

Bauer Mackenzie Superlight Reel Review

If you want a trouble-ree, light, American made fly reel that can take some abuse, look no further than the M superlight series. We’ve had a few in the Guide service since 2001 and they’re still going strong. Theaux Le Gardeur Buy a Bauer Mackenzie Superlight reel at www.backwaterangler.com

Bauer MacKenzie Superlight Series Review

After over 5 years in use in the guide service, we’ve never sent a Bauer reel in for service. We currently have a M.5SL, M1SL, and M2SL in the guide service and they really shine on trips. They are simple, beautiful tools that work without a hitch-that’s important when you’ve got a client hooked into a strong, wild fish that’s headed towards a log with a #22 spinner on 7x tippet. CFA1506F / 12 Row Micro-Slit Foam Fly Box Review

The 1506F is a shop favorite. This box has brought more smiles and organization to folks in the past few years than just about any other small item I can think of. Imagine being able to put the contents of five or six boxes chock-full-of-flies into one place. The box comes with four leaves, so typically we’ll sort nymphs on one side, dries on the second, streamers on the third and terrestrials on the fourth. I have two of these boxes because I have one set up just for Sulphurs in various life stages-think..Dries, Nymphs, Emergers/Cripples and Spinners. Theaux Le Gardeur

Thomas & Thomas Horizon II 905-5 Fly Rod Review

The Horizon series rods from T&T are stiff, powerful and ideal for windy conditions or heavy work with sink-tips. This 5wt is up to the task of tackling argentina Chile and the Mountain West. Got distance? –try this one. Theaux Le Gardeur Buy a Thomas & Thomas Horizon II 905-4 at www.backwaterangler.com

Winston 5wt LT-5 Rod Review

The following is a review of the Winston 5 weight LT-5 Rod by Terry Newendorp. Thanks Terry! The best rod I have ever had for all-round trout fishing, and to be able to take on a trip, is the Winston 5wt LT-5. I can handle Western rivers and even the Labrador wind, but the tip softness is so excellent that I can handle small trout (on the Gunpowder or wherever) with grace. I now have 3 of them, and it is still unsurpassed in distance, accuracy and finesse. Terry Newendorp Rockville, MD
