High Flows and Big Gunpowder Brown Trout

This video post features two large Gunpowder brown trout caught in the last week of September 2007. Angler Matt Devlin landed his seventeen inch brown on a tiny nymph in higher water and Gunpowder Guide Jeff Lewatowski landed a solid twenty inch brown on a small nymph during a lower flow. The flow level at 300 Cfs can be tough wading for anglers not used to battling waist high water. Catch Some of the Largest Fish of the Year on the Gunpowder During High Flows

Water Levels in the Gunpowder are not likely to change, at least until we get some measurable rain and folks start conserving water, so get out there and try your luck. We had four guide trips on the river on Columbus day with great catches reported. Because of the high flows, the river was flowing at 299 CFs at 58 F this morning, and a few adjustments are in order to get out there and be successful. 1. Limit your wading. 2.
