Thanks to Josh for the stream report and pictures from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I just got back from Jackson. Incredible. We threw size #2-5 hoppers with a soft hackle as the dropper. We caught so many fish that a had to replace three leaders in one day. Did I mention that we used 3X tippet? In all I probaly caught 60 some fish. We generally fished three rivers, the Snake, the Hoback, and the Gros Venture. However many other people fished Flat Creek which had so much fishing pressure that we decided to avoid it. We plan to conduct our annual electrofishing survey of the Gunpowder Falls tailwater on the following dates: Sept. 28—Dam/Falls Station Meet 9:30 am at the upper lot on Falls Rd. The Gunpowder river is flowing at 32 Cfs, is clear, and is 56 F. Tricos in the #24 range are still present in the flats above Falls Rd through Bunkerhill most mornings. Cooler nights have pushed them later into the morning. If you’re starting early this weekend stop in and pick up some reverse hackled tricos and a spool of 7X before you hit the river. After the recent high water event over the past weekend, I fished and walked the Gunpowder, many miles down river from Prettyboy Reservoir. It was immediately clear the large volume of water had scouring effects on the bottom, and sent much of the silt deposited in recent years down river. In March 2007 the Gunpowder spilled over after 5 inches of heavy rain in the Hereford area, and the Falls Rd gauge hit 1,600 Cfs. The high water event in 2007 also led to the dam on Bush Cabin Run bursting, and many other tributaries of the Gunpowder blowing out and dropping silt into the …
